HOW MANY YEARS OF SALES EXPERIENCE DID YOU HAVE PRIOR TO WORKING FOR SHC?
I had no previous sales experience.
WHAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR LEARNING CURVE?
The most challenging part of the learning curve for me was admitting I didn't know something. Every good salesperson has an ego and a great deal of pride, I'm no different. No one wants to admit their wrong or they don't know. My biggest problem as a new consultant was walking out of an appointment and calling my supervisor to give him excuses as to why I did not make a sale. He would give me advice and I would say, "I did that" or "I said that", instead of listening and learning. What I learned the hard way was that the best salespeople in the country take responsibility for their own results. Instead of walking out of an appointment thinking I did everything I could do, or nobody could have sold that one, instead I think about I could have done better and what I will make sure I do in the next appointment. This is how you learn, this is how you get better and this is how you become one of the top salespeople in the country in the highest income earning industry in 49 of the 50 states (oil is #1 in TX).
